Hello everybody! I don't know what you have spent your weekend, but I was in some very nice trips and now I will tell you about them.
On Saturday we visited the Monastery of Sv. Iovan Bigorski (St. John Bigorski). This is an amazing macedonian monastery. It is situated in a very nice place in the mountains.
I took so many great pictures there but unfortunately I can't share them with you now.
I found out that the iconostatis there is very special. It is wood-carved by a very known macedonian artist who at the end of his work became blind and one of his students finished the work. We could see some differences at the iconostasis at the part that was not finished by the original artist. They also have there an icon of Saint Nikola and it is said that it's a miracle icon. Many people came there to pray and many of them receive answers to their praying.
It was a nice experience and I enjoyed a lot visiting this monastery.
After this we visited a very well known village Vevcani. I know that in January there is a famous carnival in this village, but for now we just visited a spring. It was nice because the landscape is very beautiful and the water so refreshing after such a long way with the bus.
After this we went to Struga. I enjoyed every part of this trip, but Struga was no doubt the best part. It is a very nice town on the lake Ohrid, known because of the great landscape and because of the Black Drin river. I noticed something unusual here. Not the river was flowing into the lake, bu the lake was flowing into the river.. Strage..
Something else I really liked here was the atmosphere.. All the people there were just enjoying their life near the lake or near the river. People swiming everywere, a nice cool brize because of so much water around, the weather was great and the town has a unique charm because of the landscape and because of his very nice buildings.
On Sunday trip again :)
This time we went to Bitola, but on the way we visited Heraclea.
Heraclea is a very intresting archeological site. Our guide told us the story of every ruin there. The most impresive was the teatre. We sit there and imagined how the gladiators performed their shows thre many centuries ago and is was indeed very interesting. We took many many pictures and then we went to Bitola, a very beautiful city in Macedonia. Here we visited the museum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. before this trip I had some very few information about this very important figure here so is was a very instructive experience for me.
We went hikin after this. We hiked on Pelister Mountain and we all enjoyd the wonderful view there. It was refreshing and I'm really glad I had the chance to participate.
I'm sure you all enjoyd your weekend and I'm looking forward to read your reflections about the trips.
Have a great day!
